About Our Firm

“Every potential client who comes into the office is a worthy person and should never be scorned for any of his shortcomings. Every case that comes into the office is my livelihood and whether it is small or large, I should give it my best.”

So wrote Aurthur C. Farrar, Sr., founder of the law firm that began in 1949 and continues to thrive today as Farrar, Hennesy and Tanner, LLC with three generations of family and professional history.

Born to a Jefferson County farming family in 1913, Arthur graduated from Georgia Southern College, Statesboro, GA, working as a teacher and with President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration before being drafted into the U.S. Army. In 1946, honorably discharged as a Major, armed with G.I. Bill tuition benefits and supported by his beautiful new bride, Mamie, he enrolled in Mercer University School of Law, one of the nation’s oldest law schools and the first in the state of Georgia accredited by the American Bar Association. He graduated in 1949 and promptly launched his practice in Douglas, wearing a suit, white pressed shirt and a tie every day, no matter how high the searing South Georgia temperatures rose.

Multi-Generational Firm

Twenty years later, after graduating cum laude from his father’s alma mater, son Arthur C. Farrar, Jr., known as Curtis, would join him, practicing for four decades before retiring in 2007. Throughout his tenure with the firm, Curtis served on four separate Governors’ Study Committees on workers’ compensation for the State of Georgia and was appointed by Governor Joe Frank Harris to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and by Governor Roy Barnes to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Ports Authority.

In 1997, Kirk Farrar, a graduate of Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School, would become the family third generation attorney to join the firm. Today, with the additions of second-generation attorney Matt Hennesy (his father Joey Hennesy retired from the firm in 2011) and former U.S. Navy Aviator Drew Tanner, Farrar, Hennesy and Tanner continues as one of the area’s most successful personal injury law firms.

Seven Decades, Three Generations, One Mission

For the past seven decades, Farrar, Hennesy and Tanner has focused on a single, heartfelt mission: Helping Georgia’s injured recover and secure maximum compensation for their losses including medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering.

“We focus on helping clients who are victims of all types of accidents,” Kirk Farrar says. “These accidents might involve automobile wrecks, tractor trailer wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, pedestrian vs. vehicle accidents.”

Working together with Georgia’s State Board of Workers Compensation, the firm also assists injured workers – an area of law that is “heavily rule and statute-intensive,” Kirk says. “It takes someone well versed in this particular area of law to effectively represent clients.”

My case started off with Mr. Farrar and when he retired, Matt Hennesey took over. They fought for my case for over 4 years and Matt stuck with it. They were really good to me and still are.

Mr. Farrar is the best. He will guide you every step of the way! I was very pleased. Hopefully, I won't have to use him again, but if so, I most definitely will.

Mr. Matt Hennesy, I have to say, is one of the best lawyers you will ever have. Mr. Hennesy went above and beyond to make sure me and my wife were taken care of. I could never be grateful enough for what he did for us. And their office staff is just as caring. Thank you so much.
